I there any way you can make some semi-transparent overlays so those of us who want to add more icons to the trays can do so and get the select glow and such? that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just a note, when I download the file it downloads a ZIP file, but if I hover over the download link it shows a RMskin...

i did notice that when using IE (Internet Explorer,) it will try to rename it to a .zip because it recognizes it more, and since that ALL .rmskin files ARE .zip files, just renamed, it probably still recognizes it as an archive. Weird. Just rename it to .rmskin or when you save it, select SAVE AS, and go down to 'file type' and select 'All files', and append the '.rmskin' extension on the end of it. hope this helps! :D

Probably, but I've rarely had this issue with properly compiled RMskins, although it may be because this is an older skin and they've changed a lot of stuff in RM since then. FYI I'm using RM 2.5 BETA.

Okay, see I'm going to stick with 2.4 until the final release of 2.5. Not sure about BETAs... lol.

2.4 RMskins seem to install fine for me as far back as I can remember, its the ones that used older versions that sometimes caused problems.

Honestly I've had literally no issues with 2.5. I would have stayed with 2.4 except I use Win 8 and wanted the start menu back and use RM for that, and that skin which, among other things, uses scrolling and FileView.dll instead of FileList.dll, which requires 2.5.

weird. just rename it to an ".rmskin" file when you've downloaded it. maybe your computer doesn't recognize it? i'm not sure. i'll take a look at it. whenever i download it, it is a ".rmskin".

ah! so you want to use your own icons for the dock! great!! if you have an image editing software, such as photoshop, you can use Etcoman's Cube^2 icons. That's what I used. But make sure that after you create the icons, you need to make sure that they are in button-capable. by that i mean, you need to make sure that there are actually THREE images, instead of one inside a PNG file.

here, i'll give you a tutorial that should help you. the tutorial is for making buttons, rather than simple images.

First, find the icon you want, and convert it to 32x32 or 48x48.
Once the icon is 32x32 (for example), multiply the width of the canvas by 3.
So, it'd be 96x32. Then, you'll have to multiply the icon by 3 as well.
So you'll have an icon in the first 32x32 square, as well as the next square, and the next.
Finally, make the middle square (located at x=33, if you know graphs) DARKER than the original,
and make the last quare (located at x=65, again if you know graphs) LIGHTER than the original.

Finally, save it as PNG, and import it into the icons folder,
specifically set for your side or bottom bar.
If I still had a Windows computer, I'd help you out by creating a video tutorial.

But anyhow, I hope this written tutorial helps you! :)

Ogod I'm bad. Sorry for asking [I'm a new rainmeter user, quite noobish if I say myself] , but how do you change the icons on the side docks to the ones you want and so that they will work ?

:icontibneo:
Tibneo Featured By Owner Jun 25, 2012  Student Interface Designer
you'll have to go into the description, find etcoman's cube squared. get his template, and begin making your icons. once you've made your icons, you'll have to edit that icon, and make it a 3:1 width to height ratio. so if the icons canvas is 48x48 pixels, make it 144x48 pixels.

open one of my icons in dektos for reference.

Oh uhm , how do you get it to play your music?
Reply
:icontibneo:
Tibneo Featured By Owner Jun 27, 2012  Student Interface Designer
try playing some music from iTunes. then it should automatically begin. its just an iTunes remote. it won't allow you to manually pick a specific song, just whatever playlist is playing in iTunes. if it doesn't show what song is playing, then you'll need to edit the script. i'm not sure where to go from here.

you should be able to right click the skin, and find "lock skin" to make sure it is unselected.

make a copy of the longest bar. open it in an image editor. change the canvas size. copy one of the sides of the bar, and extend it.

Hey there! Firstly, FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC theme/skin. Probably one of the best I've found.
HOWEVER, I'm having a little trouble adding my own icons to the side bar menus. I downloaded the full Cube^2 Icon set from Ectoman, and changed an icons original image directly to link to my newly downloaded .ico file, however only half the icon is displayed in the bar. It does link correctly and open the program I've directed it to, however the icon does not display properly. I've tried setting a width and height for the icon as well, and that didn't work either. :tears:

Any help would be wonderful! 8-)

firstly, they need to be in .png format, unless you have it set otherwise (i'm not sure how .ico's work, if they work). each image should have a 3:1 width to height ratio, so that each image contains a default icon, press down icon, and hover icon, respectively.
leave the width and height at whatever they are set to.
hope this helps!
